The Marina 2009 International Conference and Exhibition which was held on the Gold Coast late last month has been hailed by delegates and exhibitors.
Almost 400 delegates from across Australia and overseas attended the conference, a 20 per cent increase over the last event in 2007. There were also 43 exhibitors, a 25 per cent increase over 2007.
Marinas 2009 chairman Mike Harvey told BoatPoint he was delighted with the participation and outcomes.
"Feedback indicates a high level of satisfaction from both delegates and exhibitors," Harvey says.
"The program hit the mark with a focus on improving productivity in tough times and exhibitors reported excellent lead generation and some strong sales."
The International Gold Anchor Rating Scheme for marinas was launched at the conference. Similar to the star rating given to accommodation, the Gold Anchor system will enable boat owners to select marinas that match their price and service expectations.
The winners of the Marina of the Year awards were also announced at the conference. The 2009 winner of the 85 berths and over category was Empire Marina, Bobbin Head in Sydney's Ku-ring-gai National Park and the winner of the under 85 berths division was Fenwicks Marina from the Hawkesbury River in NSW.
