Key themes for the Marinas 2011 International Conference, to be held in Melbourne from June 20 to 22 next year, have been announced by the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA).
Under the general heading of "new horizons", the MIAA is calling for papers relating to topics including lessons learned from the global financial crisis, managing risk, maintenance programs, commercial and strata management structures, new technologies, upland boat storage, marketing and partnerships.
MIAA president Andrew Chapman says that after the success of Marinas 2009 there has been considerable thought given to the most appropriate themes for 2011. "It is important that the best industry productivity gains from the GFC are shared and built on," Chapman says, "The marina business continues to get more complex and Marinas 2011 will bring together the latest and best operational and management ideas, products and services."
Full details have been launched on the conference web site: http://www.marinas11.com.
Committee chairman Mike Harvey says the Melbourne event is shaping up smoothly and initial interest from overseas is high. "Three MIAA directors are currently promoting Marinas 2011 in the US, Asia and Europe at linked industry meetings," Harvey says, "The feedback is that the MIAA conference is highly regarded as a world class business event and a strong international presence is again anticipated."
