Marina awards finalists announced
The Marina Industries Association has released its shortlist for its annual accoladesFinalists for the MIA's Club Marine Marina Awards were announced recently. The Awards are for the 2015/16 period and are based on performances over the previous financial year period.
MIA President, Andrew Chapman, said the Awards have been very well supported by industry both in Australia and internationally: "Congratulations to all the finalists as well as to all entrants in these awards that have attracted such strong support. The awards celebrate industry best practice and provide a benchmark for other businesses to aspire to," he said.
Simon McLean, Club Marine’s CEO, said the in participation in the annual awards was excellent. "As an industry insurer we see the awards as an effective vehicle to encourage and promote good business practices and procedures as well as supporting the goals of the MIA."

Best Public Boat Harbour: Hillarys Boat Harbour; Gladstone Ports Marina
Best Marina Restaurant: d’Albora Marina The Spit – Ormeggio; Soldiers Point Marina – The Point; Keppel Bay Marina – Waterline Restaurant; Southport Yacht Club – Waterfront Restaurant
Most Innovative Marketing by a Marina: Soldiers Point Marina; Westhaven Marina
Best Community Engagement Initiative by a Marina: Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club; Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club
Best Marina Innovation by a Supplier: Bellingham Marine Australia; Superior Jetties; Dock Pro
Best Boat Yard - Up To 20 Boats: Fenwicks Marina; The Quays Marina
Best Boat Yard – 20 Plus Boats: Gold Coast City Marina; Rivergate Marina and Shipyard
Best Dry Stack Facility: Gold Coast City Marina; Sydney Boathouse
Outstanding Contribution by an Individual to the Industry: William Kirby; Dr Ed Mahoney
The award winners for each category as well as the winner of the People’s Choice Best Marina Employee will be announced at the marine15 International Conference and Exhibition on the Gold Coast, May 3-5. Finalists will be presented with award certificates and the winners will also receive a trophy.
