
Haswing Marine will unveil its innovative Manta-Ray 'yak from its new Fishing Kayak series at this week’s Sydney International Boat Show opening on Thursday.
Powered by paddles or the supplied the 40lb Osapian trolling motor, with pulley-steering and a tilt trim system that permits smooth beach landings, the Manta-Ray really is a unique stand-up fishing platform.
Once deployed, the retractable side pods are said to give reassuring stability for an angler to stand up, cast lures and move about with confidence while exploring fish-holding structures.
The 'yak is equipped with rod holders, a storage area, stainless-steel stand-up rail, carry handles, cleats, and an elevated plastic seat.
The Manta-Ray rig weighs 57kg with motor, measures 3.4m long and 0.87m wide.
Designed for saltwater use and released only in safety orange, the Manta-Ray retails for about $1,800 with 40lb electric trolling motor, three rod holders, stability bar and paddle. Battery extra.
