Malibu Boats Australia has announced the launch of an all-new ’Strine-speaking ski boat – the Malibu Response TXR – as part of its 2019 model year range update.
The Malibu Response TXR, a long, low and stunning surprise addition to the ski and wakeboard boat brand’s product mix, headlines a number of running changes to the rest of the line-up that includes an upgraded wake-generating Power Wedge III, the GX (pronounced “G 10”) power tower, a bow view camera, and new helm seat designs and vinyl textures, colours and colour schemes.
But back to the Malibu Response TXR, which the Albury, NSW-based boat-maker said was “entirely designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia” and based on the hull of the strong-selling Malibu Response LXR.
The Malibu Response TXR has been fully Australianised, featuring extra storage, more interior space and a more contemporary helm design in a direct response to customer feedback.
“The TXR retains the much-loved hull and performance of the LXR and introduces contemporary new features that will be sure to impress skiing families across Australia,” Malibu Boats operations manager Simon Hill, who is also a six-times Australian men’s slalom champion, said.
“It’s a crossover boat the whole family will enjoy,” Hill said. “The TXR turns on a dime and the plush interior including wall-to-wall carpet ensures a luxurious, quiet ride.”
You’ll notice other touches not yet seen on any other Malibu product sold globally. This includes an optional walk-over rear console that makes it much easier to enter and exit the boat over the transom – and also protects the upholstery from wear and tear – that doubles as the lid for a flip-up rear locker.
Maximising the amount of useable storage was one of the key targets for the Malibu Response TXR’s development.
There are also now audio controls on the all-new digital console in front of the driver – something customers were keen to see – and open side storage pockets for stashing small items.
The helm is a step forward for Response TXR owners, designed to maximise driver and observer comfort.
“The boat is all business at the front, with a fully digital LCD dash display and fingertip operation and cruise control as standard,” Malibu said. “The shifter panel has been redesigned with improved ergonomics for greater throttle control and comfort. And for those who need it, factory-fitted Zero Off [GPS-based speed controller] is available.”
The Malibu Response TXR was launched at the boat-maker’s Albury, NSW-based factory this morning. Pricing is yet to be announced.
