Malibu Releases Survey Compliant Sunsetter

Marquis boat manufacturer Malibu has announced the released of its first model to meet Commercial Survey requirements

Manufactured to the exacting standards of the USL code as required by many state governing maritime bodies, the Sunsetter LXi is the first of Malibu’s line up to achieve the status.

A decision to enforce a safety standard on commercial ski boats in NSW means that boats used in commercial applications such as ski schools and resorts must be entered into commercial survey.  It is anticipated that most states will follow suit with Queensland also enforcing similar standards for commercial vessels

“This was a particularly challenging project,” said Malibu’s manager of sales and marketing Simon Hill.  “The standards we must adhere to, in order to achieve compliance, were not written for boats of our size,” he said.

The Sunsetter is a 6.55m ski boat with a 6-cylinder turbo diesel.  The compliance, including the diesel engine, is said to add between $25,000 and $30,000 depending on configuration.

Malibu said the V-Drive Wakesetter VLX is earmarked for survey compliance too.
