Makocraft teases new Island Cab HT flagship

Single image dropped onto social media hints at a new hero for Makocraft's offshore cruiser range

Alloy boat specialist Makocraft has teased what looks like a new flagship model that it plans to add to its Island Cab HT range of coastal fishing-friendly plate boats.

The Queensland-based manufacturer posted a single teaser image to social medla late last week with the caption “Something BIG is coming soon …” and no more details.

It’s expected to sit at the larger end of the Island Cab HT range which includes the Makocraft 591 Island Cab HT and the current flagship, the 631 Island Cab HT.

Makocraft owner Tim Stessl confirmed to boatsales that the new model, yet to be named, was in response to customers asking for it.

“There’s a few [Makocraft] customers who want to go further so they wanted a bigger boat,” Stessl said.

“This boat gets a 5.0mm bottom and has the checkerplate floor as standard – it has a lot more standard features than the other two Island Cab HTs,” he said.

Running further means more fuel, with Stessl also revealing the new boat will have a 350-litre fuel tank, 100 litres more than the other Island Cab HT models.

More details about the new range-topper are expected to be revealed later this week. One has already been built and is soon to head down to its new Melbourne-based owner.

Makocraft plans to have the new model on show at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, which runs from May 23-26.
