Looking for the perfect dinghy to kick off that extended tour of northern Australia and beyond? Makocraft has launched a new entry-level model in its tough open boat range called the 425 Commander HD Open.
According to Makocraft, the 425 Commander HD Open is a customer-value model introduced this month to the Commander series, “all of which form part of a very serious, capable range of boat, purpose made for the Aussie adventurer”.
The new tinny can take up to 40hp as a tiller steer model, or up to 50hp when fitted with an optional splash well and side console.
It is built on top of Makocraft’s VDH variable deadrise hull and includes fully welded extruded side decks, a heavy-duty bottom, close-centred reinforcing ribs, a wide 2.05-metre beam, fully welded gunwales, heavy-duty reinforced plates sides and keel, shallow draft, a sharp bow entry, and deep sides as standard.
Other standard features include a carpeted floor to chine height, an extended forward casting platform with storage hatch and flush-mounted anchor well, transom step and rail, side pockets, a transducer bracket and side rails.
As well as the optional splash well and side console, other add-ons can include a bow roller, rod holders, a trolling motor bracket, a hull strope kit and even a painted hull. Owners can choose from a range of interior or exterior colour finishes, including custom colours.
Makocraft has the standard hull only priced from $7500.
The Queensland-based boatmaker has recently teased it will soon add a new flagship model to its Island Cab HT series of offshore boats.
