The Mahe 36 Evolution 11-metre sailing catamaran will make its global debut at the 2010 Sydney International Boat Show (July 29 to August 2), a significant launch in its own right.
But joining the sleek new catamaran will be the president of the French Nautical Industries Federation (FIN), Jean Francois-Fountaine.
As a guest of Multihull Solutions, the Australian and New Zealand importer of Fountaine Pajot catamarans, Mr Fountaine will be at the Sydney International Boat Show to talk with some of the key figures in the Australian marine industry. He will also be on hand to help launch the Summerland 40 Trawler power catamaran in Sydney.
Multihull Solutions managing director Mark Elkington described it an honour to have Mr Fountaine with the company for the exclusive launchings of the two cats: "Mr Fountaine is one of the leading identities in the international marine industry with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
"We look forward to introducing him to Australia's marine industry and particularly showing how popular the multihull market has become in recent years," said Elkington.
Fountaine Pajot, which builds the Mahe 36 Evolution sailing catamaran and is one of the world's leading cruising catamaran builders, was founded by Jean-Francois Fountaine and Yves Pajot back in 1976 and has built more than 2200 sail and power catamarans built since 1983.
Anticipation for the Mahe 36 Evolution has been building over the past 12 months, which features a host of improvements and new features to its predecessor, "including a rigid cockpit bimini, redesigned galley, additional refrigeration, improved ventilation and numerous interior upgrades," according to the French boatbuilder.
The company says the changes will contribute to making the Mahé 36 Evolution "the best value 11-metre catamaran on the market".
Designed with three objectives in mind, the Mahe 36 Evolution will be affordable while offering "excellent value for money", it will be ergonomic and comfortable, and it will also "possess outstanding sea performance with centralised handling".
The Mahe 36 Evolution boasts a sheltered open-plan cockpit plus a clean and uncluttered deck layout, while a raised helm station with 360-degree vision and centralised commands add appeal.
Fountaine Pajot builds the Mahe 36 Evolution in two guises: the first with a two-cabin layout (a pair of private suites with a door at the bottom of the companionways as well as two bathrooms) and a three-cabin layout (two double cabins and an exclusive Owner’s Suite).
