The 31 designation is a waterline length, said BPY, and the boat is actually 34ft4in (10.47m) LOA with a beam of 11ft10in (3.61m) and is a big, powerful boat built to handle Australia's demanding offshore conditions.
The 31 Open has always been an attractive boat offering good fishability in a family-friendly package, and the addition of the Volvo IPS-350 drives has made a great boat even better, said Australian distributor, Tony Poole.
"We previously offered the 31 Open with a number of engine options from 315hp to 380hp. In 2007, Luhrs worked closely with Volvo to fit the IPS 350 drives," said Poole.
"After trial runs, the result was so far superior that all other engine options on this model were dropped. We've ended up with almost the same speed as the 380hp engines with the economy of 260hp. She was quicker, much quieter, and much more economical," Poole told Trade-A-Boat magazine.
There will be a Luhrs 31 Open Hardtop and an Open Tower on display at this winter's Sydney International Boat Show.
