Lowrance has announced the production of the largest fishfinder/chartplotter ever, a 16-inch high-definition HDS Carbon 16in display, designed to showcase the clarity, resolution and target separation of its impressive SolarMAX HD technology.
With a four-panel split screen, you get the equivalent of four 7in displays on the one big 16in unit. This way, the new HDS Carbon 16 truly is an all-in-one. It will be available in May, 2017, for about $7k (prices below).
Anglers in the market for a do-it-all, integrated system will score a suite of high-tech features including StructureScan 3D with SideScan and DownScan Imaging, StructureMap, Broadband Radar and SiriusXM Weather Chart Overlay in the one unit.
The HDS Carbon 16 has a dual-core processor that also allow you to switch between applications and simultaneously view independent sonar feeds with ease.
SOLARMAX HD SCREEN
The SolarMAX HD display technology is designed for high-definition views and clear visibility in all conditions, with the widest available range of viewing angles, even when wearing polarized sunglasses, Lowrance claims.
The new displays feature 1920x1080 HD resolution and are engineered to withstand higher temperatures than conventional units, offering enhanced reliability in warmer climates. Screen dropouts can be a problem with larger displays.
The SolarMAX HD displays have in-plane switching (IPS) screens with improved clarity and sharpness perfect for serious fishing and fish ID. Live Network Sonar lets you view and control two independent live sonar sources at different locations — like the front and the back of the boat — from the one unit.
FEATURE-PACKED HUB
Other features include Bluetooth control of multiple Power-Pole shallow water ‘anchors’, Bluetooth audio streaming from the SonicHub2 marine entertainment system, and compatibility with an expansive selection of optional cartography including Insight Genesis custom mapping, C-MAP Insight PRO, C-MAP Lake Insight HD, C-MAP MAX-N+, Navionics and more.
Lowrance says anglers will be able navigate with ease using its proven navigation technology, intuitive user interface and the high-resolution mapping with enhanced coverage of coastal and inland waters.
The HDS Carbon 16 supports radar, SmartSteer control of Motorguide Xi5 trolling motors and the Lowrance Outboard Pilot, and full engine data integration highlighted by compatibility with Mercury VesselView Link.
ANGLING FOR SALES

"Combining a 16-inch high definition display with our exclusive SolarMAX HD technology and the high-level performance of the HDS Carbon series will provide anglers with an on the water experience second to none.
