Fish finders are must-have equipment for most boat owners but until now they were priced outside the pockets of many tinnie owners or the increasing schools of kayak fishermen. The new Lowrance Mark series of single and dual frequency fishfinders is aimed directly at this market.
With a RRP starting from $299, the Lowrance Mark-5x and Mark-5 Pro have the performance to keep the keenest angler happy and right onto the fish.
Both models feature a 12.5cm (5-inch) bright-white, 480x480 pixel, LED display that gives easy viewing in all conditions, plus a 16-level grey scale definition that delivers maximum target detail and separation.
While both the Mark-5x and the Mark-5 Pro boast Lowrance's usual high standard of sonar performance, clarity and underwater definition, the Mark-5 Pro provides the additional benefit of dual frequency operation for greater coverage in a variety of fishing and boating conditions. By operating on both 200kHz and 83kHz frequencies, the Mark-5 Pro provides up to 120 degrees of sonar coverage down to depths of more than 300 metres.
The Mark-5x operates on 200kHz only, to depths of 240 metres, while providing 60 degrees of fish and structure coverage. Both models come with the transom-mounted Skimmer transducer with a built-in temperature sensor.
Both models also feature Lowrance's unique "TrackBack" function that allows users to scroll back and review territory they have covered so they avoid missing productive areas of fish-holding structure.
The new simplified user interface is enhanced with a backlit keypad design that allows for single thumb control, so boaties can quickly access menu features and enter advance user modes for expanded performance selections with one hand.
Both units have a new mounting design with an easy to install, quick-release, tilt and swivel bracket for easy removal and remounting. Both are fully waterproof and come with a one year limited warranty. They are available in stores Australia wide now.
