Designed and built in Queensland by Eagle Farm Marine Fabrications, the in-survey vessel, is constructed of plate aluminium, using 6mm plate on the hull section, 4mm on the sides and 3mm for the cabin. The floor areas and the top of the engine cover are constructed using 3mm checkerplate.
Designed for serious offshore fishermen and commercial applications the hull measures 8m overall with a 2.5m beam and 14° deadrise. It's overall weight with trailer comes in at around 2400kg.
In an early test conducted by the company, Pump Action reached a top speed of 65kmh, fitted with a 5.7lt MerCruiser sterndrive.
Twin fuel tanks fitted underfloor carry 300lt of fuel, however larger capacity tanks are available.
At the rear is full access provided by a walk board that completely covers the sterndrive unit. Access onboard is via an integrated ladder or through the transom door.
A number of features designed to appeal to offshore boaties have been fitted to the Lightning 7m.
It features a self-draining cockpit and easily accessed batteries located under the main floor.
The fishing-friendly fitout includes two large seat boxes with access via Sopac hatches. Two passenger seats feature a round-back design which allows the passengers to sit in comfort for the long haul. The helmsman and copilot are accommodated on Reelax seats facing the helm.
The large dash, measuring 500mm in depth, has ample room to accommodate electronics.
The wheelhouse with standing headroom and full windscreen protects the passengers from the elements. Overhead are two compartments designed to locate radios etc.
In addition, all the engine cables are located under the gunwale, safe from accidental damage.
Built for the dedicated trolling fishermen, there are no less than 11 rodholders. Three rodholders are positioned either side of the cockpit and an additional six-rod rocket launcher is located on the cabin roof. A further two rodholders are fitted to the rear, centrally located bait board. It also provides access to the livebait tank at the transom.
All grabrails - fitted at the bow, on the cabin roof and throughout the cockpit - are manufactured using 32mm tube.
Anchor access is made easier with a split bowrail to provide access to the bowsprit.
The cabin provides additional storage for gear and the like and is fitted with a cushioned V-berth.
