Marine Queensland and Wear It Australia, in association with the North American National Safe Boating Council, are encouraging everyone to get involved on Saturday, May 17 for the 'Ready, Set, Wear It' Life Jacket World Record Day.
Life Jacket World Record Day aims to gather as many participants as possible from Australia and around the World all wearing their personal floatation device (PFD).
"This is a great initiative to promote the lifesaving use of personal floatation devices," said Marine Queensland President Matthew Hodson.
"With such a vast selection of PFD types and styles available today it is important to take time to become acquainted with the different options, and more importantly, make sure your choice of PFD is the right choice for your on-water activity."
Marine Queensland is excited to be running a Life Jacket World Record Day event at Brisbane-based marine dealership, Northside Marine.
"We invite everyone to bring their life jackets to Northside Marine between 10.00am and 12.00 noon on Saturday May 17 and be a part of this world record setting event," said Hodson.
A host of experts from Maritime Safety Queensland, Volunteer Marine Rescue and PFD manufacturers will be available on the day to answer all safe boating related questions.
We're told there will also be plenty of marine safety related giveaways across the morning.
Volunteer Marine Rescue Sandgate will be firing up the BBQ and running a sausage sizzle across the morning with all proceeds going straight to the VMR to assist with the important work they do across our waterways.
