For business owner, Hughie Lewis, the decision to exclusively stock the brand is a landmark resolution, said Yamaha.
"We are about to embark on an exciting new growth program with expansive new premises opening in 2008," said Lewis.
"This is the right time to put all of our resources behind Yamaha and present just one outboard brand, the premier brand, to our customers," he said.
Lewis Marine said it traded up until 2001 as an Evinrude dealer. When OMC went into bankruptcy, Lewis Marine was appointed a Yamaha dealer.
"In 2001, Yamaha had both two and four-stroke outboard models, and we quickly evolved to become a predominantly Yamaha dealer. We kept the Evinrude brand largely to keep servicing our older customers with workshop support," said Lewis.
Plans for Lewis Marine to relocate to a 2.8-hectare waterfront site near Hobart airport are well advanced. It will open mid-2008 and features a showroom with 40 boats on show and a six-bay service workshop.
