Still basking the accolades and awards gained by the 120 ft superyacht Bristolian that was launched last year, New Zealand boatbuilder Yachting Developments is about to go one foot better with the launch of the 121 ft cruising yacht Bliss.
Bristolian, a composite sloop, won the award for best sailing yacht interior at the 2009 Showboats International Awards this week. The award will be handed over at a ceremony in Florida on October 31.
The all-black yacht (black hull, black mast and black sails) is also a finalist in the best sail boat 24-40 metres category of the International Superyacht Society design awards and was recently voted as one of the 50 most beautiful yachts of all time by SuperYachtWorld magazine.
Bliss, which will become the southern hemisphere's largest composite sloop, is due to be launched in Auckland before Christmas, Designed by Dubois Naval Architects, she is expected to be as well suited to racing as to luxury chartering.
Sporting a 48.3 metre carbon mast and boom from Hall Spars, the 126 tonne yacht is intended primarily as a charter boat. The cabins have been designed to provide great versatility; double guest cabins on both the port and starboard side can be either doubles or twins and have an extra pullman berth.
The full width master cabin can be divided in two to provide a master cabin and a smaller twin bunk cabin. There are also two crew cabins.
The interior has been designed by the British company Design Unlimited and is being executed by Yachting Developments in-house cabinetry team. They are aiming for a clean, uncluttered look with abundant natural light.
Bliss is expected to visit Australia shortly after she is handed over to her lucky owner.
