Kawasaki Ultra 250X

Kawasaki has re-emerged as a serious player in the PWC market with the release of its latest water weapon, the Ultra 250X

Ready to rumble

Kawasaki is aiming to counter all challengers in the PWC sector with its all-new Jet Ski Ultra 250X.

The Ultra 250X is the quickest Jet Ski the company has ever produced. It mates the proven STX-15F engine, a derivative of Kawasaki’s legendary Ninja motorcycle powerplant, to a new roots type supercharger system with an intercooler that pumps up the horsepower.

Coupled to the supercharged engine is an innovative hull that exploits the engine’s power. The new hull has a deep bottom angle and carefully designed sponsons, and chines for straight-line stability and precise cornering. Four Kawasaki Splash Deflector ridges across the bottom of the bow minimise spray, while handling is enhanced via a high performance ride plate.

A versatile and adaptable Jet Ski, the Ultra 250X is equipped with a five-position adjustable handlebar to suit stand-up or sit-down riding. A 78lt fuel tank provides a substantial cruising range, while a 200lt storage compartment enables the rider to carry more than enough provisions for a day on the water. A centre console storage area has a detachable drink holder with space for two storage bottles.

While targeted at the experienced rider, those looking at having fun on a Jet Ski for the first time should not be intimidated by the raw power of the Ultra 250X. The 250X comes equipped with a Smart Learning Operation (SLO) Mode function that allows novices to become familiar with the handling and response of the craft at a more relaxed pace before unleashing its full power. SLO Mode limits the rev range to 5800rpm, which reduces engine speed by approximately 30 per cent. New riders will also enjoy Kawasaki Smart Steering which provides extra steering responsiveness.

Kawasaki believes this new water weapon will leave everything else in its wake. The company claims the Ultra 250X is the most powerful production personal watercraft to ever explode onto the market and will re-establish Kawasaki as a high performance industry leader.
