JSW Powersports Red Nose Charity Ride Day

A fleet of 70 riders covers 160km of the Gold Coast waterways to raise money for Red Nose Charity

A good-natured and benevolent bunch of some 70 PWC riders contributed to an upbeat JSW Powersports charity PWC Ride Day last Sunday (October 8, 2017), covering around 160km round trip from Southport to Manly and back again.

All the participating PWCs had a Red Nose sticker on their ‘bonnets’ and all the proceeds from the rider’s registrations went to the well-deserving Red Nose charity.

The charity day started bright and early at Broadwater Parklands in Southport with some 70 PWC riders geared up and ready to ride from the beach. Prizes were given to riders who were dressed up in costumes on the day in honour of the charity theme.

The fleet headed out after an informative rider’s briefing conducted by Australian Jet Ski Association. This covered the day’s schedule and general safety information.

Riders of all levels were part of the fleet that headed out with expert guidance by AJSA marshals and JSW Powersports crew.

The first stage of the ride traversed the calm waters of Broadwater, with a first stop at Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club on South Stradbroke Island for coffee and muffins and a rest. Plenty of sponsors had donated prizes which were raffled off to several lucky winners at the sunny island location.

The next stage saw riders continue on through the beautiful waterways and islands of Moreton Bay such as Jumpinpin, North Stradbroke island, Russel Island and up past Peel island to reach the Brisbane waterfront suburb of Manly.

The Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club at Manly put on a great feed with cold drinks and a shady relaxing break for all the PWC riders. Entertainment was provided with music and with live feeds throughout the day broadcasted via Rebel FM radio. There were more prize raffles donated by generous sponsors.

The feedback from participants was very positive and Jeff McNiven, director of JSW Powersports, said these ride days are all about giving back to the community, the needy, customers and creating a PWC experience they may not be confident to try on their own.

"These days PWCs are the new trailerboat that lets riders get out there to explore all the waterways and there really is a PWC for each type of rider," he said.
