Dutch yacht builder Jongert had buyers lining up at the recent Dusseldorf boat show in Germany when it unveiled its updated version of its spectacular 5200M cruising yacht.
And no-one will mistake what sort of yacht you are sailing, according to naval architect Rene van der Velden. "This is a typical Jongert," he says, "In the past, if you saw a large sailing yacht at a distance, you could immediately say 'that's a Jongert'. With this design that recognisability has been reintroduced. It is our modern version of the classic Jongert yachts."
Van der Velden says the whole emphasis of the 170 foot yacht is on privacy, luxury and sublime comfort. He says the large "beach club" zone at the stern of the yacht includes a big sun-baking pad, a wet bar and a shower and a toilet. The area is directly accessible from the four VIP guest cabins.
The aft deck can also be used to store two personal water craft and a large RIB. If the prospective owner should so desire a swimming pool can be installed on the forward deck.
The master cabin is placed amidships to take full advantage of the yacht's impressive 10.3 metre (33 foot) beam.
The new general manager of the Jongert Shipyard, Folker Brongers, says that since the yard was successfully relaunched last year, it had decided to continue its emphasis on the development and construction of sailing yachts. He said Jongert was the only Dutch yard with its own range of yachts.
But Bringers says Jongert will not forget those customers who want the ease and comfort of a large motoryacht and will have a range of designs available.
Jongert was taken over last year by a consortium of firms including VeKa Group, Werkina Werkendam abd abo Private Equity.
It has orders for yachts with a combined cost of more than 40 million Euros. Check out the Jongert website for more information.
