Jet design for Windy interiors

Extra luxury for Norwegian boats

Windy Boats of Norway has teamed up with one of the world's leading designers of private jet and superyacht interiors, Eidsgaard Design (EDL), to revamp the interior of its latest generation of boats.

London-based EDL was named newcomer of the year at the 2009 Superyachts Awards and its directors share over 30 years combined yacht and private jet design experience. Their most recent project has been the 77.7 metre superyacht Tango which is due to be launched by Feadship in a couple of months.

EDL has been commissioned to create a distinctive new Windy interior combining contemporary design and fine craftsmanship with clean lines and luxurious detailing. The first boats to feature the interior will be the new Windy 31 Zonda weekender, the 40 Maestro high-performance family cruiser and the 44 Chinook hard-top sportscruiser. The first Windy 31 Zonda is due to be launched later this month.

The design concepts for the new interior are expected to combine clean neutral backgrounds with rich textile accents, walnut floor and finishes and stainless steel details.

Windy CEO Knut Heiberg-Andersen says he was on the point for contacting EDL's Peder Eidsgaard to discuss working together when Eidsgaard called him out of the blue and suggested the same thing.

Australian agent for Windy Boats, Graaf Marine's Rob de Graaf, says the partnership will underline the quality and luxury found in the builder's range of boats.

"Windy Boats look great, feel great, are furnished immaculately and perform beautifully." De Graaf says, "Bringing in an award-winning design firm to further enhance the level of luxury and quality is more evidence of Windy Boats' target of securing the top sport in the luxury sportscruiser sector."

Windy Boats are imported exclusively by Graaf Marine and range in sizes from 25 feet to 58 feet.
