Jeanneau teases new dayboat ahead of Cannes reveal

Jeanneau reveals it is about to launch a new line of luxury dayboats

French power and sailboat brand Jeanneau has announced it will launch a new range of luxury dayboats at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival in early September.

Little is known about what the new line of boats will look like, with a single line-art image revealing few clues.

Jeanneau said the design brief was to create a “new line in the segment of luxury dayboats”.

“With the aim of always reinventing itself, taking on new trends and developing in strong growth segments, Jeanneau affirms its interest in the market of premium day boats,” Jeanneau said.

“This new line will be unveiled at the Cannes Boat Show in September of 2021. The official launch will take place at the Düsseldorf International Boat Show in January 2022 with the presentation of the first model in the line.”

The single image shows the forward section of a boat featuring an Axopar-like plumb bow, hinting at an integrated anchor to keep the visual clutter to a minimum, that will maximise the amount of internal space in what is believed to be a forward master cabin.

The swoopy design also shows what appears to be a hard chine running well forward similar to a Saxdor hull.

However, rather than feature an abruptly upright enclosed space similar to the Scandinavian boat brands, the Jeanneau design features a racy-looking swept profile.

Dawn of the dayboat

Design-driven dayboats are growing in popularity worldwide as buyers look for a stylish vessel that is comfortable enough for an overnight trip but without the challenges of owning a full-blown motor yacht.

This class of boats usually features two cabins with accommodations for up to four people, galleys, enclosed heads with separate showers, and comfortable outdoor living spaces.

This class of boats is also becoming more popular in line with outboard engines that now produce enough performance to push these boats along at around 50 knots, meaning they can access distant anchorages in minimal time.

Having outboard engines that can lift out of the water also helps with minimising maintenance compared with a sterndrive engine.

The 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival runs from September 7 to 12.
