Jeanneau revolutionises yacht docking

New system unveiled next month

Backing a large yacht into a marina berth or bringing it alongside a jetty in strong winds is often a nerve-wracking task but now French manufacturer Jeanneau is to introduce the first 360 Docking system for production yachts.

The system, which integrates a pivoting sail drive and a bow thruster with a joystick control, will be introduced to the public at this year's Cannes, Genoa and Barcelona boat shows.

According to the company, the joystick makes complicated and stressful docking manoeuvres as easy as child's play.

"This is going to change the way people look at docking," Jeanneau marketing director Erik Stromberg told BoatPoint, "We are making leaving and entering the marina a pleasurable experience."

The drive system will be fully unveiled next month and boats equipped with the joy stick control will be on display a major European boat shows.
