Is this the caravan to convince boaters to stay on dry land?
A caravan heavily inspired by luxury motor yacht design has hit the market in the USA caravan drawing inspiration from some of the most luxurious boats on the water has hit the market in the US featuring a roof made up entirely of solar panels and a system that will suck moisture out of the air to make water.
Luxury off-grid caravan maker Living Vehicle has released the HD24, a new 7.3-metre “piece of art” that it says drew its inspiration from luxury motor yachts to “merge comfort with capability”.
Living Vehicle Chief Executive Matthew Hoffmann said the HD24 was equal to experiencing a high-end yacht but in something designed for land-based expeditions and journeys.
“LV is ideal for those desiring to embark on multi-week trips to ranches or privately owned land, indulging in fly fishing trips, invigorating hikes, or simply taking time to seek solitude in nature.”
The $US299,995 ($A463,000) caravan, which we note is about the same price you’d pay for a 9.0- to 10.0-metre sports cruiser, can use water-from-air technology to create up to almost 20 litres of water a day from the naturally occurring humidity in the air.
It’s also fitted with a compact dual-zone inverter split air conditioning system that can still provide cooling air even in temperatures pushing 50 degrees Celsius or warmth in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees.
Power comes from the HD24’s 72kWh energy system with enough off-grid grunt to run high-end appliances such as the air conditioner or even a washing machine and dryer.
Inside, the Living Vehicle HD24 features a walk-in gear closet that can be reconfigured as a remote office for those who still need to mix business with pleasure.
The one important thing it doesn’t do that a luxury motor yacht can, we note, is float.
