International paint's firebug at Sydney International Boat Show

Marine coating and paint manufacturer, International Paint, said the boating industry is at risk of losing a traditional part of its history – amateur boat building - and to help preserve the past it is encouraging our youth to learn the joys and rewards

International Paint said it is doing this is by sponsoring a group of teenagers from the Forster Neighbourhood Centre (FNC) to build a FireBug sailing dinghy on its stand at the Sydney International Boat Show (Hall 2, Stands 222 to 224).

The FNC runs a variety of community projects including a boatbuilding initiative for children at risk of leaving school early.

International Paint said it is donating the 2.4m FireBug to the centre adding to FNC's current fleet of two. FNC's goal is to build six in total which will allow them to add youth sailing events to its list of community support programs.
