The Gold Coast Waterway Authority is inviting boaters, fishers, sailors and all waterways users to have their say and contribute to the information pooling and community needs for Stage 2, The Community Consultation Survey, for the proposed Labradaor Channel Extension.
The channel extension, considered the "missing link on the Gold Coast waterways, would create safe and navigable passage along the western side of the waterway from the existing Labrador Channel, south along Southport shores, to join up with the South Channel near the Sundale Bridge.
The Labrador Channel Extension is a key project identified in the Gold Coast Waterways Authority's 10-year Waterways Management Strategy 2014-2023.
The project is designed to improve safety and access for all waterways users by adding a navigation channel and completing the 'missing link'.
In order to progress with these exciting plans, Aurecon is undertaking a survey to form an independent review of the Labrador Channel Extension, on request of the Honourable Mark Bailey MP, Minister of Main Roads, Road Safety and Ports, and Minister for Energy and Water Supply.
