Honda Marine has released its highly anticipated, completely redesigned BF75 and BF90 four-stroke EFI outboardsThe new BF75/BF90’s 1.5lt, SOHC, 16-valve, inline four-cylinder VTEC (BF90) engine was inspired by the same engine that powers the Honda Jazz car.
A range of Honda-exclusive technologies, superior performance and impressive power-to-weight ratios place these new models at the top of their class, according to Honda Marine manager Tim Davies.
He said the new engines were developed around three key themes: economy, efficiency, and durability.
“New to the BF75/BF90 is multi-port electronic fuel injection (EFI) which, coupled with a dynamic engine control module, delivers top fuel economy in a very compact and lightweight package,” Davies said.
“Our exclusive Lean Burn Control system automatically adjusts the air/fuel mix to deliver unsurpassed efficiency, while a two-way cooling system allows the cylinder head to run slightly cooler than the engine block, which improves long-term engine durability.
“Honda’s revolutionary Boosted Low Speed Torque system, teamed with a high-performance gear case with a low 2.33:1 ratio, also ensures very strong hole shot acceleration.”
Claimed best-in-class top-end performance and fuel economy, superior battery charging capacity and low operational costs are among a long list of features.
