How to snell a hook for snapper

With a little practice, snelling a main line or leader to a hook with an offset eye is easy to do, and creates a very neat-looking knot that is exceptionally strong

Snapper season has arrived, and a snelled hook will enhance your chances of claiming that trophy fish.

It’s also a good knot for making a fully adjustable two-hook rig.

The front hook can slide up or down the leader to accomodate different bait sizes, whether they be whole fish or squid. This rig can be adapted for Spanish and spotted mackerel in the summer months, with wire leader replacing the mono.
