Queensland aluminium boat builder Horizon has started including a clever rail-mount system on its boats that makes fitting, adjusting, moving and even removing accessories a breeze.
The Railblaza system, developed in New Zealand, will allow Horizon and Stessl boat owners to easily attach TracLoader mounts to a special rail, fitted as standard, running along the inside of all side deck models.
The UV-stabilised Saltwater system will allow Horizon and Stessl owners to fit everything from sounders to drink holders, pole clips, rod holders, extended poles for cameras, bait boards, smartphones, storage pods and more.
The Railblaza system is popular among kayakers for the ease and convenience it brings when preparing the yaks for specialist fishing trips where different gear is needed.
Horizon, which owns Stessl, said it had worked closely with Railblaza to develop the new TracLoader coamings.
The move is an Australian first, and will provide significant improvements in convenience, storage capacity, and versatility for Horizon customers.
It said the extrusion would be incorporated into all boats currently in production, “allowing for the attachment of Railblaza Saltwater series accessories without specialist tools, in-depth know-how, or any danger of damaging the boat”.
The system’s hand-tightened mounting bases connect to the track and can slide along it.
The stainless steel T-bolts used in the TracLoader system are insulated from the aluminium tracks, meaning there is no risk of corrosion.
“Horizon made the decision to partner with Railblaza and incorporate the feature due to our commitment to providing the best on-water experience possible for our customers,” Horizon said.
“The Railblaza system has proved extremely popular among boaters and fishermen in the USA, and Horizon are excited that it will be available to their customers in Australia.”
The Horizon boat range includes dinghies, punts and other open boats, Gridcore aluminium plate boats, Hydrolifed pressed aluminium plate boats and custom survey and commercial boats.
It even specialises in flood rescue boats optimised for Queensland.
