Horizon RP115 heads for Australia

This is the biggest Horizon motor yacht to head to Australia and it’s a very special commission

Horizon Motor Yachts Australia (HMYA) has been working closely with local owners of luxury motor yachts in the 56-85ft range in recent years. But this latest order for a custom RP115 measuring 122ft overall is something else again.

Announced from the HMYA headquarters at Sanctuary Cove during the boat show, the new RP115 was commissioned through experienced, ticketed captain and Horizon employee Mark Western (left of second photo).

Working with Horizon Yachts for the past 12 years, Western is well known throughout the big-boat industry and respected by Horizon owners. As a skipper, he has plenty of on-water cruising experience in local waters.

Based in Perth for the last six years, Western has spent his time captaining numerous Horizons throughout Australia as well as working alongside HMYA Director Gary Wahlstedt (right of second photo).

When Western signed up an owner for a Horizon RP115, a superyacht with a LOA of 122’ft, he set a new benchmark for the brand locally. This will be the largest and the most highly optioned Horizon Yachts to hit Australian shores.

THE RP115 FEATURES
Among the standout features of the RP115 are a hull extension, 10-seater heated jacuzzi, sauna, and sunroof to the skylounge. With that enclosed skylounge, the RP115 looks every bit the trideck superyacht.

Twin MTU 2600hp engines will give a top speed of over 24 knots, while 440/20X TRAC stabilisers are the biggest you can buy for a boat like this.

There will be 24 underwater lights, Furuno navigation package with Octoplex power management and Mareton monitoring system, plus Yacht Controller for docking, and many more design features.

The luxurious one-of-a-kind Horizon RP115 will hit Australia’s Shores in early 2019 and is said to reflect growing interest in the upper end of the motoryacht and superyacht market.

HORIZON’S PERSONAL SERVICE
HMYA director Wahlstedt said the sale of the RP115 was testament to all the hard work Western has done for the Horizon brand over the past 12 years.

"His knowledge of the Horizon range of vessels is exemplary and his relationship with Horizon clients is outstanding," Wahlstedt said.

With increased inquiry on the larger end of the Horizon Yacht models the past few months, it is shaping up as another successful year for the marque and its local agency.

Horizon Yachts is celebrating its 30th year in 2017 and is one of the largest luxury yacht builders in the world, as well as the number one builder in the Asia Pacific region.

Over the last 30 years, Horizon has delivered more than 780 luxury yachts, with in excess of 190 of these over 80 feet in length.

Popular models range from 52 to 150 feet and include motor yachts, superyachts, power catamarans, expedition yachts, and fast displacement motor yachts.
