Horizon FD85 completes sea trials

New horizons as the first FD85 Fast Displacement Series launches with long-range cruising in mind

The first yacht of the new Horizon FD85 Fast Displacement Series has reportedly passed its first test drives successfully.

Breaking the traditional Horizon motoryacht mould, the new Dutch-designed FD85 has been created to answer the call for a truly long-range efficient and comfortable owner/driver yacht with comparable space to a 100-footer requiring a skipper.

Modern, stylish lines, creative interiors, large floor to ceiling windows, an enormous space and flexible travel speeds are said to be the core features of the new Horizon FD85 Fast Displacement Motor Yacht.

The exterior and interior layout were developed to draw the full benefits from the 7.07m beam, with separate areas for entertainment, relaxation and enjoying the sea views.

A total of five en-suite guest cabins are on board: a master cabin on the main deck, which extends over the entire beam of the ship, four guest cabins (including two VIPs) on the lower deck, and a crew area with two cabins and a galley in front of the engine room.

Horizon says the FD85 is a really advanced mid-range motor yacht that combines innovative design with functional living and spacious entertainment areas and her space is comparable with most over 100 feet large yachts.

During the first tests, the performance of the FD85 was said to be convincing, with the targeted 17-18 knots easily reached with CAT C18 ACERTs. Thus, the reality of the fast displacement hull has been met.

The Horizon FD85 is built according to standard CE-A for yachts up to 24m in length, which is a critical limit for many registrations and driving licenses.

No compromises are made with the equipment. You get Zero Speed Stabilisers, a hydraulic Hi-Lo platform, twin generators, air conditioning, Jacuzzi, crane, lateral salon and bulwark doors, hardtop roof, and more in the standard equipment.

Penned by Cor D. Rover Design Studio from the Netherlands, the FD85 will celebrate its world premiere at the 2016 Taiwan International Boat Show from March 10-13 2016 in Kaohsiung.
