Horizon E88 for Aus

Sea trials in Taiwan completed

A new Horizon E88 skylounge motoryacht Mechtilda was recently sea trialed in Taiwan with her Australian owners on board.

The vessel was said to performe extremely well and, to her owner's satisfaction, she reached a top speed of 24 knots with her twin MTU 12V2000M94 1920hp engines.

The Horizon design team, in keeping with the owner's layout requirements, moved Mechtilda's galley completely aft on the main deck, allowing the aft deck and galley to come together as one large entertaining space. Forward of the galley lies a dinette, which is separated from the main saloon by a custom-designed partition that can be hidden when desired.

Completely forward on the main deck is the owner's office that takes advantage of the expansive windshield windows to offer an amazing view, we're told. Below deck are four en-suite staterooms, and crew quarters are found aft of the engines.

Since the owner plans to cruise various destinations, some of which are height-restrictive, Mechtilda was built with height and weight in mind.

Horizon designed and implemented a folding radar mast that will fold down at the touch of a button, allowing the yacht to travel without overhead worry.

Mechtilda will be delivered to her new owner in Perth in mid-March. A good friend of Mechitilda owners was also present at the sea trial. He also owns an E88 named Mineral Water out of Australia.
