The marina said it is celebrating the achievement of Clean Marinas status after completing accreditation as part of the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) Clean Marinas program.
Hope Island Resort Marina harbourmaster, Marc Hall, was presented with the Clean Marinas flags and certification at the Brisbane International Boat Show, by MIAA director, Steve Sammes.
The Clean Marinas program is a national voluntary system that assesses facilities and practices as applicable to each marina.
This may include mechanical activities, boat maintenance and storage, fuelling, facility management including recycling, workshops (mechanical, shipwright, boat repair and general), emergency equipment and associated procedures, and user education.
Hope Island Resort Marina joins 35 marinas natinoally who have achieved full accreditation in the well respected environmental assessment program that involves self, peer and external evaluation by an independent environmental auditor.
Hall said it was extremely satisfying ot have completed the Clean Marinas program and achieve positive results in all three accreditation levels.
"We have been involved in the program since 2006 and we are very pleased to be able to fly the Clean Marinas flag," said Hall.
Hope Island Resort Marina said it has taken significant steps to ensure a high level of cleanliness of its facilities and the surrounding waterways for all boaties to enjoy today and in the future.
Constructed by Bellingham Marine, Hope Island Resort Marina opened in 2001 and offers 240 wet berths ranging in size from 12 to 30m.
Hope Island Resort Marina is 30 minutes drive from Gold Coast Airport and boasts a range of superb facilities including a shopping precinct with supermarket, alfresco restaurants, a tavern, deli, butchery and other retail outlets.
"Hope Island Resort Marina is one of the few in Australia to have such extensive facilities, allowing boaties to provision their vessel within 50m of their mooring," said Hall.
The marina is also just 500m from the largest marina support facility on Australia's east coast, Gold Coast City Marina, allowing boaties access to servicing, repairs and upgrades, but does not share the same water, meaning boats at Hope Island are always in clean water.
Hope Island Resort Marina said it has currently undergone a security upgrade with a new security system with key card access and the installation of eight new security cameras which will allow marina berth owners to view the marina at any time from its new website.
