Honda said the mutually-beneficial partnership further demonstrates the company’s involvement in the Australian community and reinforces the AVCGA’s commitment to protecting boaters and the marine environment.
AVCGA national commodore, Chris Gillett, said flotillas nationally had been quick to realise the benefits of Honda four-stroke technology.
“Flotillas using Honda outboards have reported fuel savings of 40 to 50 per cent over conventional two-stroke motors,” Gillett said
“The superior torque of Honda engines makes towing other vessels much easier, they also operate significantly quieter than other engines, and Honda’s renowned engine durability means maintenance costs are comparatively low.
“Honda’s world-leading environmental performance also provides piece of mind for our flotillas, many of which operate in some of the world’s most pristine marine environments,” said Gillett.
Dedicated to assisting the AVCGA carry out its commendable work, Honda said it has established favourable supply channels through its national dealer network to ensure the search and rescue organisation is ready to attend any emergency.
Despite engines often being subjected to harsh use, due to the nature of the AVCGA’s work, Gillett said there have been no reported problems.
“That sort of reliability, combined with advanced engine technologies that excel in both low-down torque and high-speed scenarios, is paramount to any organisation where the lives of others depend,” said Gillett.
The AVCGA is comprised entirely of volunteers. It has 150 radio bases nationally under the control of more than 75 flotillas, over 100 rescue vessels, and 32 communication and display vans.
Serving the public for almost 50 years, the AVCGA has returned thousands of stranded or lost boaters safely home.
