“Many sailors prefer to join regattas so they are not sailing alone. They can join in the fun and atmosphere of a regatta and make new friends from around the world,” said McKee.
Sunsail said rather than sailing for the first time in a foreign country, it is possible to plan a trip around one of the many regattas that are held annually in these great cruising grounds. These events combine the exhilaration of competitive sailing with fun social activities.
“We have the same people come back year on year for the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week because they have such a fantastic week sailing with friends in the Whitsundays,” said McKee.
“They actually make it an annual event in their holiday calendar. It really is a great way to combine a hobby with a holiday,” she said.
