If you remember the days when fishing from a canoe meant dangling a handline over the side or towing a lure as you paddled along then it is obvious you haven't kept pace with the boom in kayak fishing in recent years.
Kayak fishing is now as hi-tech as offshore sport fishing or the hunting of the wily bass from a specialist bow-casting platform. Not only are the kayaks themselves a far cry from the garage-built canoes of the past but they also come with every imaginable extra designed to make fishing easier and more productive.
Recognising the dedication of today's kayak angler, Lowrance has introduced a transducer mount for kayaks that can be used on almost every model of the sit-on-top craft.
The Transducer Kayak Scupper Mount is compatible with Skimmer transducers for all Lowrance HDS, Elite, Mark and X-Series units -- including the popular DownScan imaging models.
The mount fits scupper holes with a maximum circumference of 3.8cm or a minimum of 2.4cm and a maximum and minimum depth of 23.5cm and 4.0cm. Easy to install and remove, the mount requires few tools and none of the messy adhesives used with many existing kayak transducer mounts.
By positioning the transducer directly in the water, the Transducer Kayak Scupper mount ensures maximum sonar signal sensitivity for the clearest underwater views of structure and fish.
The mount operates with both the dual frequency 83/200kHz Skimmer and the 455/800kHz DSI transducer. It will be available at dealers before Christmas this year and the RRP is just $49.
