Have your say on licence fees

Recfishwest wants to know how you want your licence fees spent

Since the Recreational Fishing from Boat Licence (RFBL) was introduced in 2010, more than $5 million has been invested in projects designed to benefit recreational fishing, through the Recreational Fishing Initiatives Fund (RFIF). These projects have included artificial reefs, surface and subsurface FADs, fish stocking, safety and education initiatives as well as projects aimed at improving fishing experiences.

In addition to this there has also been research into black bream, squid, blue swimmer crabs, game fish, prawns, mulloway and barramundi. With applications for the next round of RFIF projects approaching, Recfishwest wants to know from fishers about how they would like their fishing licence money spent. Is it more artificial reefs, fish stocking, tagging programs, environmental projects, fishing clinics, research or safety programs?

Recfishwest has recently launched an online survey to determine which projects are seen as a priority by the recreational fishing sector. The information gathered throughout this survey will provide direction for your licence money expenditure.

Recfishwest has asked people to pass the link on to family and friends who enjoy fishing, even if only occasionally. Visit the Recfishwest webpage www.recfishwest.org.au or access the survey directly at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/recfishwestlicencemoney to have your say in how your money is spent.

Recfishwest says that everyone who completes the survey goes into the draw to win one of three Daiwa spinning reels valued at $200 each.
