Have your say on Lady Musgrave

Lady Musgrave Reef site management arrangements open for comment

Draft site management arrangements for Lady Musgrave Reef — the southernmost cay in the Capricorn Cays National Park — are now open for public consultation until July 22, 2015.

The draft arrangements outline how visitors and tourism operators can access the area. The overall aim is to ensure tourism is sustainable and to protect the area’s species, heritage and cultural values.

The draft arrangements were reviewed following the Queensland Government releasing the Capricornia Cays National Park and adjoining state waters management plan in 2014.

The current site management arrangements are jointly managed with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.

Site management arrangements are localised plans for use of a particular site, identifying its values and describing specific use issues and cumulative impacts at the site.

Site-specific arrangements look at reef use and values in finer detail and, together with the Reef-wide zoning plan, protect the marine environment.
The draft arrangements can be reviewed on the website. Public consultation closes on 22 July 2015.
