Hanse to launch new 505

Versatile layouts in this stylish 50-footer

This month, Hanse will launch the 505, a 50-foot-class cruising yacht styled on her popular big sister, the 575.

Since the 575’s launch last October, it has experienced solid sales success with more than 70 orders to date, resulting in the German Hanse factory going into overdrive.

The 505 is also already proving popular with many pre-launch orders already taken.

As with her big sister, the 505 has been designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co and features a modern sleek hull with a long waterline length, a solid, safer bulwark, a spacious cockpit with twin helms, low-profile coach roof, and an easy-access large bathing platform with ladder.

The deck is clear, with all lines running underneath, flush-mounted portholes and hatches, and a one-step-high coach roof that’s free of gear and offers great visibility.

Easy, short-handed sailing is facilitated by twin helm positions with all lines and winches within easy reach, a self-tacking jib and steering columns equipped with pods with space for a plotter and two instruments.

The cockpit is fitted with Navpods for easy control, a fridge, lockers and easy-access, under-floor stowage.

The 505 has a vinylester resin sandwich hull that we're told is strong, light and durable with a robust GRP inner grid, integrated chain plates and a T-speed keel. The main bulkhead is laminated to the hull and deck for extra strength and a keel-stepped mast. There’s also an integrated genoa furler and a multifunctional bow fitting with anchor roller, teak step and gennaker attachment point.

Based on its big sister and created by leading interior designers, the 505’s interior is like a luxury apartment, with a versatile layout and a large choice of finishes for owners to customise their yacht.

The interior comprises a generous loft-style saloon with large dining table that retracts to create a lounge area, a long and well-appointed galley, up to six cabins with a choice of configurations offering a maximum of 11 berths, up to three heads, two with separate shower stalls, a chart table area and an L-shaped couch.

An exciting new convenience -- and for many an essential one -- is the option of a utility room which can fit a washing machine and workspace. Alternately, owners can choose a large bathroom or a bunk-bed cabin.

Accommodation-wise, the 505 has two double cabins in the aft and a choice of a large owner’s double berth or two identical cabins with double berths, both with a separate head and shower stall, and single-bed crew quarters with a head or a sail locker in the bow.

There’s also plenty of storage space throughout the 505 – another must-have for on-board living - and many optional extras for added comfort and convenience including a retractable TV, air conditioning, a freezer drawer and champagne and wine coolers.

Importers Windcraft say that the Hanse 505 is the perfect yacht for those who want stylish fast, easy, and comfortable cruising and the opportunity to customise to suit their on-water lifestyle.
