Windcraft, the importer and distributor of Hanse yachts has announced the release of the German brand’s new 40 footer, the Hanse 415. According to Windcraft, the new yacht’s predecessor, the Hanse 400, enjoyed the longest run and most sales of any 40-foot yacht in Australia.
Windcraft MD Peter Hrones knows how important the 40-foot model is to any yacht range and made sure he had significant input into the all new 415 design. Hrones wanted this yacht to be perfect for Australian conditions.
"I am delighted with the new Hanse 415," Hrones said. "This is a classy, upmarket yacht with perfect proportions and a spacious feel. The cockpit is laid out by sailors for sailors -- it will be incredibly easy to sail with the family. The atmosphere down below is light, modern and airy with superb attention to detail."
Hrones said the combination of a Judel/Vrolijk designed hull, a 60cm longer waterline and high-aspect sail plan brings outstanding performance. The safe and well-protected cockpit has generous storage and a large bathing platform. All lines lead aft to winches at the twin helm positions. The self-tacking headsail and German mainsheet system (allowing sailors to adjust the main from the windward or leeward side) makes sailing short-handed a breeze.
The companionway has a retractable cascade washboard, user-friendly staircase angle and a watertight stowage area for phones and keys. The interior is a light, airy loft-style with a large choice of layouts to suit couples and families for long distance cruising or a day-sail on the harbour.
The 415 is priced from $279,000. The first boat is due in Australia in June and will be displayed at the Sydney International Boat Show August 2-6.
