Hanse 455 to launch in July

New 13.95m yacht is said to have the biggest cockpit in its class as well as optional forward sun lounge

Hanse is set to launch the latest in it's range of cruiser/racers, the Hanse 455.

The standard layout is three-cabins, with an extension option in the forward cabin to make a total of four. There is also a choice between two saloon layouts; standard offers a generous U-shaped sofa to starboard and a comfortable bench opposite, with the option of replacing the bench with a small table and two swiveling chairs. The spacious, light-filled cabins are served with two heads. As usual with Hanse models, the forward cabin is equipped with a WC and basin to port and a spacious shower on starboard. The second bathroom is located at the rear of the saloon and is also equipped with a large partitioned-off shower.

The new Hanse 455 also offers ample storage space. There are large cockpit lockers as well another in the cockpit sole, as well as storage compartments for smaller equipment items, such as binoculars and mobile phones, near the companioway. There is also a large sail locker in the bow which can be accessed from the deck and offers ample space for sails and fenders.

Light and air is distributed through the boat via 20 portholes, which helps to create a pleasant cabin climate and makes the area below deck unbelievably light, we're told.

Hanse says that the new 455 also has the largest cockpit in its class. This gives owners enough space to sail in comfort and for spending relaxing hours in port.

The deck is easy to operate and is designed so that the yacht can be sailed short-handed. This is achieved with the help of the self-tacking jib and the winches being close to helmsman. All halyards and sheets can be operated from the helm.

To underline the cruisy side of the 455, the Hanse Design Team has come up with something new: on the cabin superstructure in front of the mast, there is the option of a large 1.90 x 1.55m sun lounge which the designers say is perfect for relaxing.

The first boat is due to be completed in July 2014.
