Launched in late 1998, the 680CC is based on the marque's popular centre cabin 680SF Encore, with modifications to emphasise its fishability. These include 360° rail access and the option to power the craft with twin 130hp outboards.
While dubbed a centre console, the 680CC actually features a fully enclosed cabin - though it is smaller in size than the 680SF. The console/cabin has been rounded off and features a seat inset into the front. Another modification has the helm control set to the starboard side so that the port side can be used to gain cabin access.
Both the helm and companion seats can be located on a large divided icebox and can be unlocked and flipped over to face astern - perfect when an aft lounge is fitted for social days on the water. Alternatively, the lounge can be completely removed for additional cockpit space for dedicated fishing trips.
The cabin area boasts a large dry storage space with full standing head room and a large glazed hatch with insect screen.
The boat also features additional underfloor storage as well as a self-draining cockpit.
Standard inclusions include nav lights, a sliding helm seat and boarding platform. Hydraulic steering is a standard item on the 680CC.
Another distinctive feature of the 680CC Prowler is its alloy-framed bimini top that can be optioned with a folding six-rod rocket launcher and side accessory mounts.
An alternative is a fibreglass hardtop, which Haines Hunter recommends when radar is to be installed. This includes a rocket launcher and six rodholders.
The 680CC's cabin features opening side portholes, has provision for a marine toilet and incorporates all bunk cushions with infill and cockpit lights. With cabin carpet and lining and many other interior features, HH says it has made every attempt to make the vessel a home away from home.
The underfloor fueltank carries 270lt and an optional 350lt tank is available for long range expeditions.
Power alternatives include single outboard or sterndrive power to 300hp or twin outboards to 300hp.
Tested with twin 130hp standard carburetted OMC engines, the 680CC delivered a cruise speed of 60kmh at 4500rpm with a top speed of just over 70kmh at 5500rpm, HH says.
A single engine will troll at around 12kmh at 2100rpm with a top speed of just under 49kmh at 4200rpm.
