Own a boat but never had the local knowledge to get the most out of it? Better Boating Victoria has updated its website with a range of trip options that boaters can add to their schedule.
The site, a gateway for the state’s 400,000-plus boaters, has started listing boating trails that create a pathway for boats to follow as they explore the state’s various waterways.
Featured trails include Werribee to Geelong and Queenscliff, Melbourne’s central business district including the Yarra River, the eastern side of Port Phillip Bay and the Mornington Peninsula, and the western side of Western Port Bay.
The trail guides give a rough itinerary for day and overnight trips, calling into the many highlights in the regions including national parks that are all accessible by water.

Better Boating Victoria said the guides were tailored towards being accessible for a range of boats and cruisers, with various activities available throughout.
The trail guides also link back to information on features such as marinas and public moorings that help to make the experience better.
Better Boating Victoria plans to add more of the travel guides to its website.
Boaters also have access to boatsales.com.au’s Destinations guides that provide detailed information about many of the lesser-known boating hotspots around the state.
