'Green' Hondas For Sea World Rib
Honda Marine and Sea World on the Gold Coast have launched an environmentally-friendly inflatable boat that will play a vital role in the marine park's internationally-renowned research and rescue effortsThe new Sea World 2, a 6.5m Swift rigid inflatable, is powered by two Honda BF150 four-stroke outboards, which boast the lowest total emissions of any engines in their class.
These engines also carry the Outboard Engine Distributors’ Association’s (OEDA) three-star rating for ultra-low emissions. This new star-rating emissions labelling scheme, which allows Australian boat owners to choose outboard engines based on emission information, comes into effect on January 1 2007.
Sea World 2 will be the first vessel in Australia to carry outboard motors with the new rating.
Honda Marine manager Tim Davies said the contribution to Sea World’s research and rescue program was not only part of a long-standing corporate partnership with Sea World, but an extension of Honda’s own commitment to protecting the environment.
“Honda is extremely proud to be associated with Sea World and excited to be part of its ongoing efforts to protect our marine environment and care for the creatures living in it,” Davies said.
