Greater access to Williamstown Waterfront

There would be greater access to the Williamstown waterfront under plans to rejuvenate the area, said developer Nelson Place Marinas

The proposal, it said, includes developing the derelict Knights Slipway site and potential marina upgrade to the Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club and Hobson's Bay Yacht Club. It would open up a section of the waterfront that has been off-limits to the public for more than 100 years and allow for the ecologically-sound expansion of both clubs and increase facilities in the area.

Nelson Place Marinas' spokesperson, Scott O'Hare, said the boutique development would transform the area.

"I've grown up in Williamstown and I'm all for improving the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the waterfront, while maintaining the area's unique charm."

"The old Knights Slipway was a pivotal business in Williamstown's maritime history and the site has now been vacant for nearly 10 years.

"We plan to continue the traditional use of the site for the provision of marine services - a slipway, marine workshops and services, boat sales, retail and office space," O'Hare said.
