Gone Fishing Day this Sunday, October 15, 2017, is the second such national day of celebration for our most popular and loved pastime.
There are free events, try-fishing opportunities and social get-togethers in all states. Check out the link at the foot of this story for updates.
The Gone Fishing Day program includes fish workshops, casting comps, goodie bags with bonus lures, expert fishing tip classes, touch tanks, loads of kids' activities, fish-cooking demos and more.
There is something for everyone, including beginners, who want to try and learn about fishing, as well as activities for the keen angler. In NSW alone, 42 fishing clubs will also be holding local fishing events around the state.
The NSW Department of Primary Industries is promoting a host of events to encourage everyone to get out on the water. It doesn't matter if you haven't fished before, or if you're the keenest of anglers, Gone Fishing Day is for everyone.
