New 60ft performance cat to debut at ExpoThe high-performance TAG 60 XR catamaran should make an impression on her debut in the Super 60s multihull line-up at the 2015 Gold Coast International Marine Expo.
Being showcased for the first time in Australasia, this impressive 60-foot sailing cat can be handled comfortably by a crew of just two people yet offers excellent capability on all points of sail, as well as an unprecedented level of comfort, luxury and innovation.
Mark Elkington from Multihull Solutions – which will host the TAG 60 XR’s unveiling at the Expo’s new site of The Boat Works – says the latest design from this world-renowned catamaran builder offers a ‘truly unforgettable’ experience.
"The TAG 60 XR has a hydraulic joystick which allows easy systems control from each of her dual helm stations," Elkington says. "And her solid link steering system gives intuitive feedback for an exhilarating sail with remarkable performance, even in light-air conditions.
"Indeed, in light airs of 6-15 knots of true wind, the TAG 60 XR equals the wind speed and regularly exceeds it by up to 20 per cent, meaning owners will be sailing while most owners are still motoring."
The TAG 60 XR’s designers say three or four cabin/three bathroom cat will comfortably do 300-mile plus runs per day.
"The upper deck and living area of the TAG 60 XR comprises of a well laid-out galley with panoramic views and good ventilation, which is designed with the cooking triangle in mind and with all the modern conveniences," says Elkington.
"The aft saloon/lounge area is enclosed, unlike traditional designs, with large, electrically controlled sash windows dropping into the walls and connecting to the outdoor cockpits. Owners can thus control the air flow and also have one side open and the other closed in breezy weather," he says.
"The TAG 60 XR’s leather seating is ample for 8-10 people and the saloon table doubles as a dining table with variable height and also moves aft to ensure comfortable dining. LED lighting is task-specific and dimmable.
"This unique connection between the interior and exterior spaces allows each person their choice of space … but everyone is still together."
