Gold Coast Flathead Classic

Almost 5,000 flathead caught and released!

The annual Gold Coast Flathead Classic has been deemed a great success, with 178 teams catching and releasing an incredible 4,918 flatties over three days last week.

Team Dog was the Top Team with a whopping 5,515 points 1,000 clear of the runners up Team Sands with 4,525. The Champion Angler was Graham Dodds with 2,057 points, edging out runner up Thomas Ryan with 1985 points. Top Junior was first timer Cooper Sands.

The Random Prize Pool was fantastic and the stunning Blue Fin, Suzuki, White Water Marine boat package was won by Gavin Dunne.

“It was a champion effort by the club and thanks to the committee and club numbers who got behind the event,” said Christine Hunt (pictured), the President of the Gold Coast Sportfishing Club and top local flattie angler to boot,
