GOLD COAST BOAT SHOW: Free Mercury engine demos
Experience a new marine engine or 12 with these free on-water demonstrations this weekendVisitors to this year’s Gold Coast International Boat Show have the opportunity to experience a range of new marine engines at the free Mercury Edge on-water demonstration area.
Mercury will have a fleet of 12 boats in the water, each powered by a perfectly matched engine, and everyone at the show is invited to jump aboard for a free ride.
"We call it the Mercury Edge – it’s that special something which puts our engines ahead of the rest and the best way you can experience it is out on the water," said Mercury’s General Manager, Will Sangster.
"You can feel the power of the engines, hear how quiet they are, experience how clean they are, and watch how fuel efficient they are.
"It’s that real life experience you are never going to get in a showroom or on the internet. You have to be out on the water."
Mercury introduced the Mercury Edge at the Gold Coast International Boat Show last year and it was a smashing success with visitors lining up to feel, hear and see the latest motors do their thing, Mercury says.
Organising a dozen boats, engines and drivers and then running them almost non-stop is quite a commitment, but Mercury says it underscores its unwavering belief in their products and in getting more people to try boating.
Anyone can talk about the quiet nature of a four-stroke engine matched with quality grunt and smooth steering, but Mercury wants buyers to experience its engines firsthand.
"We’re eager to show them off," Sangster says. "So if you’re coming to this year’s Gold Coast International Boat Show then make sure you visit the Mercury Edge. I think we’ll surprise you."
