Gold Coast-based satellite mobile company Globalstar has launched its satellite tracking device that uses breakthrough Simplex technology to monitor the location, activity and behaviours of assets right across Australia and surrounding waters.
The service named TracerTrak uses an Axxon tracking device measuring 20cm x 15cm x 2.5cm which is simply attached to the asset and regularly sends updates to the Globalstar's constellation of 40 low earth orbit satellites.
The TracerTrak system utilises a web browser to map the equipment's journey. The system can also signal an alarm that can be sent to a customer via email or SMS whenever unusual activities are encountered.
Initial hardware costs are $700 for TracerTrak - compared with the $2000 to $3000 price tag for an average satellite modem, says Globalstar.
