Global promotion for SCIBS

Officials from the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) are on an extended global marketing campaign promoting the event as one of Australia's premier boat shows

The 21st SCIBS will be staged from Thursday, May 21 to Sunday, May 24 on Queensland's Gold Coast.

Sanctuary Cove manager events and international relations, Barry Jenkins, is attending the Mumbai International Boat Show with Trade Queensland in February, visiting the Dubai International Boat Show for the first time in March, scoping the market and speaking to potential buyers at the Moscow International Boat Show in April for the first time, and then attending Shanghai's China International Boat Show.

"We'll be putting a major focus on our ongoing international marketing particularly in a more challenging economic environment," said Jenkins.

"We want to spread the message that manufacturers are working to bring some fabulous boats and marine gear to this Show."

SCIBS said its 2009 Show has drawn announcements of some exciting world and especially Australasian debuts from exhibitors in the lead-up to the May event.

Show organisers said Allan Barnett Motor Yachts is launching its 63ft High Seas at Sanctuary Cove; Perry Catamarans is showcasing the Perry MS-59; Maritimo will have its world launch of the Maritimo 56 Cruising Motoryacht and displaying the Aegean 60, Aegean 55 and two smaller versions of the C60 Cabriolet - the C55 and C50 Cabriolet models.

SCIBS said Australia's biggest luxury boatbuilder, Riviera, is releasing the new 5800 Sport Yacht and the 3600 Sport Yacht Series II with Volvo Penta IPS in world launches.

The Riviera 5800SY will be at the centrepiece of the largest on-water display at the Show covering nearly 4000m², encompassing a range of Riviera Open and Enclosed Flybridge models, the 43 and 48 Offshore Express sport utility vessels and the complete range of sportsyachts.

For smaller power boats, SCIBS said there is the world launch of CJH Yachts' 26ft Sportsfisher; the Southern Clipper Boats launch of a power/auxiliary sail catamaran with the project title of Southern Clipper 31 that showcases a revolutionary new boatbuilding system; the Australasian debut of the Hunter 27 Edge by exhibitor US Yachts which is also displaying the Hunter 27, Hunter 45CC and Hunter 45DS; and Charter Yachts Australia's new Lightwave 45 Grande, currently in production and built by Queensland company Lightwave Yachts.

SCIBS general manager, Mark Jensen, said the Show would offer engines and marine products of interest to the marine industry such as new products from Fixtech, ATL Composites and Furuno.

"Seapower Australia is debuting the new generation MAN V8 and V12 diesel engines while Raymarine Asia is launching its new A Series range of chartplotters/fishfinders in Australia at Sanctuary Cove," said Jensen.

The 2009 SCIBS features extended pavilion displays at the entrance to the Marine Village while the Super Yacht pavilion has more than doubled in size and this year, features an engine-related display with robust flooring for heavy exhibits.

The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is staged from 9am to 5pm daily with online tickets expected to be available this month.
